CONDITION
- Case hinge broken and cover trays separated
- Walls of trays separated from covers and each other
- Embossed velvet tray lining separated from front inside cover; some fading but in overall good shape
- Foredge wall missing from bottom tray
- Cover leather separated from back cover
- Corners pulling up on leather from front cover
- Photograph in good shape - black background slightly cracked
 
TREATMENT
- Item evaluated for condition and photographed                              
- Front cover tray walls re-attached to each other and to board with hide glue
- New wall created for bottom tray - constructed out of mat board and paper, then toned with acrylic paint to match case
- Back cover tray walls re-attached to each other and to board with hide glue
- Velvet tray lining and brown paper lining re-attached to inside of trays
- Tyvek toned with acrylic paint/methyl cellulose mix to match cover leather
- Cover leather lifted at losses and filled in with toned Tyvek
- Small wall built to fit in bottom tray to protect photograph from moving - Okawara tissue toned to match velvet piece and laminated with heavy weight paper
- Okawara tissue toned to match case and used as inner and outer hinge to re-join trays
- Clamshell box constructed with Tyvek-covered trays and inner walls - empty space left to allow for case clasp; ramp included on top tray to allow for display of item with minimum handling
